‘Me and my father’ by Hugh Hughes

This Hugh Hughes Roughbook entry is a poem about my father, whom I talk about a lot in my show, Story of a Rabbit:

My father was bigger than me
And, as far as I could see,
That was normal because I was just a boy and he was a man already
He drank coffee
And tea
And me
I did not drink either, you see
I liked lemonade that was free
And not having a key
To the house was fine by me
Because I didn’t want the responsibility
Like my father had over me
